Cambodia Festivals

New Year (March 14 - 16)

They take the birthday of Gautama Buddha as the beginning of the year. During the Near Year Festival, they will hang up the flag of five colors and alligator flag of Buddhism all around the country.

Imperial Ploughing Festival (May 11)

It is a very important traditional festival of Cambodia. They will have a ceremony hosted by the agricultural department to simulate a year’s planting. The king and the queen will be there in person, and most of the officers will attend it in formal dress. Government agencies take a one-day-holiday for the festival.

Water Festival (October 31 - November 2)

Around the Mekong River, people spend 3 days every year to worship the river which provides water and fertilizer for the harvest of rice and fishes.
