an outdoor sitting Buddha, The Chaukhtatgyi was re-moulded to be a white sleeping Buddha in 1953 with a length of 20 meters and a height of 5.4 meters. No wall is built around the Buddha but with iron-made roof to provide shade for the Buddha. The Buddha is amiable in expression with his eyes being made of glass. He sleeps on the pillow of his hand, with one foot beyond the other, and eyes gazing softly ahead. This posture is said a rest state of the Buddha. On the sole of the Buddha’s feet are 108 grids with 108 patterns from the Buddhism idea of six metempsychosis; each has a English explanation aside.
